Days s-l-o-w-l-y becoming days
Jeepers creepers (where'd you get those sneakers!)just realised haven't posted here since 2006.
Happy new year!
still alive (but you would know that anyway).
it's time for a british themed 'weather' and 'the balmore' update
Thank God feb is nearly over. January was truly a depressing month. i don't mind cold weather, but the dark and greyness really does get to you after a while...it's been a very wet wet drizzly winter (and mild). thank goodness we've had a patch of cold but lovely crisp sunny blue sky weather, yeah sure a bit of snow came with it too, but at least it's pretty. So now it's light when i'm driving to work (lovely sunrises) and gets dark about 5pm. hooray! in about a month we'll be on british summer time. counting the days!! AND, my tulips (bought on trip to amsterdam) have sprouted! can't wait to see if they bloom.
had Sam up (mate from South shields, well, actually, she's from west-midlands but don't hold it against her ;) last week for a couple days which was nice. we went up to Bruar falls in the snow, introduced her to haggis (don't think what's in it, and it tastes delicious!) and she got some of mary's homemade tablet from the best sweetie shop in scotland (until i find one better) in 'the hilltoon', dundee. I went with Sammy to Bulgaria last year snowboarding, and this year both of us couldn't afford to go, so i guess we were a bit sad about that. I love snowboarding, and when there's been snow on the scottish slopes(which isn't often this year), i haven't been able to get up there either :(
So sammy obviously had to attend 'the balmore' (the local. an 'old mans pub') latest update from there, 'the only gay in the balmore' has been absent for a while (as have we really, didn't go much in jan and only returned when sammy came up. think the bar staff thought we'd left town!) and recently returned. he's a lovely chap and his partner of 16 years died, so he's not so good. poor chappy. another regular has up-sticks and moved to a farm in donegal. as you do. it's still so easy to tell who in the pub puts music on the jukebox. including us. i did hear on the news that the chaps for 'the campaign for real ale' in Britain are worried that too many pubs are shutting down in britain. 40 every day, apparently. Don't think they have anything to worry about in scotland. what i do worry about however, is wandering down to dundee city centre last weekend (again, hadn't been down for about 1 month) to find a crap bingo hall recently installed next to one of my fave cafes on the high st. buggers. even a pound-stretcher shop would've been better than that (which is what was there previously, funnily enough)
My boxes from NZ arrived today (shipped over in 3months!). Gosh i'm a bit of a hoarder. of crap. but it really hit home that there will no longer be 'home' in otahuhu. gosh. now i just have to find places for all the sentimental rubbish. gave Mr G a laugh at my old photos though.
Enough of the melancholy.
sorry can't be bit more chipper.
will work on it
more later. love, me
